This special issue emerges from the collaborative efforts of presenters at the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial North America (FOSS4G NA) 2025 conference, held in Reston, Virginia, November 3–5, 2025, a gathering organized by the Open Source Geospatial Foundation United States (OSGeo US) and other North American OSGeo chapters that brings together the developers and users who build, refine, and apply open-source geospatial tools, by the community and for the community.
